WHY BOOK THE DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT PROJECT?

Truth be told, there are a TON of great speakers with amazing presentations. I have been fortunate to actually have the opportunity to see many of them in person. We all share the common goal of educating as many people as we can about the digital world.

I don’t claim to be better than the next speaker, but I am different. My perspective and story are unique and I feel resinates well with teens and parents alike.

If you are trying to decide which speaker to book for your event, be sure to look at attendee reviews. Check out any sample videos that the speaker is able to provide. Don’t be shy about asking for contact information from clients who have previously booked the speaker so that you can hear from them first hand. Yes, I just happen to have a long list of contacts that you are welcome to reach out to (smile).

CONSIDER A FULL-DAY OF EMPOWERMENT:

The majority of school districts book a ‘FULL DAY OF EMPOWERMENT!”. When booked, I am yours for the day! A FULL DAY OF EMPOWERMENT includes:

  • DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT FOR STUDENTS: (2) 1-hour student presentations for 6th through 12th grade students. Your school can determine the grade breakdown per session though typically one presentation is for Middle School students and one for High School students.
  • (1) EMPOWER HOUR! You are welcome to schedule a 1-hour session to allow me to meet and engage in a round table discussion with a small group of selected students or staff. This is a great opportunity to have an informal question and answer session.
  • DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT FOR PARENTS: (1) 2-hour Digital Empowerment for Parents presentation (no students). The parent event is an information rich and engaging presentation that leaves parents educated and ready for the next step.

DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT FOR PARENTS / EDUCATORS:

I realize that not every school district is able to host a FULL-DAY OF EMPOWERMENT. Some school districts opt to start with the 2-hour Digital Empowerment for Parents presentation and elect to schedule student presentations at a later time. My mission is to bring the Digital Empowerment Project to your school so we will work out the details to make that happen!

I am always excited about the opportunity to work with school administrators and educators. I often speak to educators, typically during their professional development days. While I prefer a 2-hour Digital Empowerment for Educators session,  I also have available information packed 1-hour (or 90 minute) presentations that have worked well in helping educators stay abreast of the challenges and opportunities that their students face on a daily basis.

DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT FOR TEENS / STUDENTS:

Our teens need our help to become empowered digital consumers. I love speaking to teens. I have Digital Empowerment for Teens presentations geared primarily for 6th through 12th grade students. The majority of presentations are delivered in assembly style format.

DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT SPLIT SESSIONS FOR TEENS/PARENTS:

A Digital Empowerment split presentation is available for clients who host an event in which both teens and parents will attend. The first hour of the presentation will be for both teens and parents and the second hour will be geared for parents only. This is a great format for church youth groups as an example.

DIGITAL LEARNING CENTER FOR PARENTS

A 90-minute (8 chapters) online audio slide video presentation is available for parents at the Digital Learning Center. This online presentation is great for schools, churches or organizations what want parents to benefit from a Digital Empowerment for Parents presentation but are unable to host a live event.

BOOKING YOUR EVENT:

REQUEST A NO-OBLIGATION PROPOSAL:

Typically, the very first question that I receive is, “how much does it cost?”.  I understand your budget constraints, I really do. I work really hard at not letting cost be the reason a school district does not bring the Digital Empowerment Project to their school. I encourage you to contact me to request more information about the speaking fees.

CHECK SCOTT'S SCHEDULE FOR AVAILABLE DATES:

Bringing the Digital Empowerment Project to your school, church, conference or organization is simple! You are welcome to check my online scheduler to see if your preferred date is available. If it is, feel free to put a no-obligation hold on the date until we work out the details. If your date is not listed or if you have specific questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

SCHEDULING CONSIDERATIONS FOR YOUR EVENT:

When scheduling your event, please keep in mind that I like to arrive (and have access to the location where the presentation(s) will be held) one hour in advance of the scheduled start time. I would ask that you also consider my travel time to your venue when scheduling the start time of the first presentation.  If you are scheduling multiple presentations during the day, please allow for at least 15 minutes between start times. This ensures that part of the allotted presentation time will not be devoted to attendees arriving/exiting.

If you need to reach me at any time you are welcome to contact me via my cell phone at (419) 607-9432.

VENUE ACCOMODATIONS:

I ask that you let me know, prior to the date of the presentation, of the details related to the location where I will be speaking. If you have a choice between allowing me to speak in your auditorium or gym, I would certainly prefer your auditorium. A gymnasium often poses some challenges.

If the venue/audience size requires that I utilize a microphone/speaker system it is my hope that you are able to provide the equipment. My strong preference is to utilize a wireless lapel or headset microphone in lieu of a handheld microphone. If you are not able to provide a microphone/speaker and you feel they would be needed due to the venue/audience size, please let me know in advance as I will make arrangements to bring my own microphone/speaker.

If possible, please designate a space within the venue where I can place a stand-alone banner and a table with handout material for adult attendees.

AUDIO / VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:

My presentation(s) includes the use of a PowerPoint slide deck with embedded audio/video. The venue should include a screen suitable for use in displaying the PowerPoint slide deck. It is your responsibility to provide a suitable PowerPoint projector. If you are not able to do so, let me know in advance of the presentation date.

I will bring both a MAC (first choice) as well as a Windows laptop. I prefer to use my own laptop/clicker as it helps ensure that the PowerPoint will display properly. I will have my presentation/video/audio available on a flash drive in the event it is necessary to use a laptop which is part of your A/V system.

I will bring a speaker system however it is preference that the Client also provides (as a backup plan) a speaker system capable of emitting sound from my laptop.

Please make a technology representative available with the ability to ensure that the audio/visual systems are operational within the venue prior to the scheduled presentation time. I prefer to meet with the representative immediately upon my arrival so that we can resolve any audio/visual issues should they arise during setup. If due to issues with the audio/visual system, I am not able to use the PowerPoint slide deck, I will not be able to provide the presentation.

Audio or video recording of any presentation in its entirety or a portion thereof is not permitted by any means whatsoever by a Client or any attendee, unless with my expressed oral or written consent. Still photography is permitted during a presentation.

SPEAKER INTRODUCTION TEXT TO COPY AND PASTE (OPTIONAL):

Scott founded the DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT PROJECT™ in 2017 and is fortunate to have the opportunity to travel the country sharing his perspective and presenting to teens, educators, counselors, youth pastors and parents. Scott lives in northwest Ohio with his wife, Amy. Together they parent eight internet savvy kids.

After an amazing 41 year career in law enforcement, Scott’s mission is to EMPOWER TEENS to make safe and healthy choices online and to EDUCATE PARENTS so they can support and guide their teens. Scott was a former NW3C Computer Forensic Specialist and Internet Crimes Against Children Investigator. In addition to forensically examining digital media his role as an Investigator was to traverse the internet posing as a child.

The world Scott found himself in for over ten years was almost beyond descriptive words. He knew that his investigations were important and they were making a difference – one predator at a time. Scott’s heart told him he needed, and wanted to, do more. Scott’s passion became the DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT PROJECT.

Scott has delivered his empowering message to nearly 350,000 teens and 85,000 parents and educators.

PRESS RELEASE TEXT TO COPY AND PASTE (OPTIONAL):

According to Common Sense Media, teens spend an average of nine hours per day, immersed in their digital world. Children ages eight to 12 average nearly six hours a day online. Their digital world allows them potential access to nearly 4.5 billion internet consumers.

Parenting a teen or child in the digital world can be overwhelming and challenging at best.

[Name of School or Organization] is hosting a Digital Empowerment for Parents event on [date of event], from [time of event].

This free event is open to community members and is designed to educate parents by providing them with timely, relevant and important information they can use to develop a strategy to empower their teen or child to make safe and healthy choices online.

The speaker for this event will be Captain Scott Frank, a retired Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Investigator and now internet safety expert and empowerment speaker from Oak Harbor, Ohio. Scott founded the Digital Empowerment Project and has presented to tens of thousands of students, parents and educators.

Scott exposes the risks of the internet with real life stories and practical takeaways. More importantly, Scott demonstrates to parents that despite the risks, the internet affords every teen and child the chance to embrace the opportunities to INVEST YOUR TIME, INSPIRE OTHERS and IMPACT YOUR FUTURE.
